Posted below are results of twelve weeks of racing from the 1990 season of the Pt au Roche time trials, running from May into August. Surely we are missing some weeks of results. The time trials were presented this season by the Champlain Valley Cycle Club, and club official Mark Elmore did most of the organization and record-keeping. At the end of the season, Mark produced a list of best times for all riders (posted below) which includes twelve riders not mentioned in the twelve results posted here. All twelve results posted here were taken from three sheets prepared, duplicated and distributed by Elmore some time late in the summer. These were converted to web language (html) by scanning the two sheets and using Optical Character Recognition (OCR), followed by formatting, editing and proof-reading in Microsoft Excel, Word and Notepad. These partial results for the 12 weeks show 66 riders posting 229 results, including 12 rides on the five mile course and a single 25 mile effort, which produced a course record.

Elmore's official sheet distributed after the 1990 season lists 70 riders for the entire season. In these twelve events, organizer Mark Elmore was the top rider with seven wins, two second place finishes and a third place in his ten rides of the ten-mile course. Mark also set a course record of 59 minutes and 55 seconds for the long course (25 miles). His best ten-mile time (23 minutes and 4 seconds) stood third among season bests behind two gunslingers from Lake Placid (22:45 by S. Fairchild and 22:53 by Duncan Douglas). Mary Kavanaugh repeatedly lowered the women's course record, culminating her season with a ride of ten miles in 25:55. The busiest week below shows 30 finish times. In the 12 weeks posted here, Dave Bilow rode all 12 events, while Mark Elmore rode 11 times and Jim Duffany and Dale Crosby each rode 10 times, followed by six riders who participated nine times. One quirk of the season -- couple of highly ranked cyclist took a shot at a course record for the five-mile event, which is usually left to the very young riders.

3 missing weeks The results above were all posted in the fall of 2008. In September 2009 we stumbled upon results for three more weeks of the 1990 season. These are now posted below. The sheet containing these results indicated that there were still more events, for which do have no results. While we were working on these three new weeks, we also created a season summary sheet, and we found and corrected one error in the results listing above for June 20.
