The 2014 season

After spending time with Don learning the website he created. I have made the last few posts. Don was a brilliant writer and was certain to recognize accomplishments of weekly riders outside of cycling. Feel free to email me so that I can continue giving recognition to those milestones and accomplishments. Ed

Nine riders battled a strong south wind resulting in one of the closes finishes of the year. Jill and Jim Walker were the first to ride a tandem this year. Anyone want to try a unicycle?

A ride to remember

This was our first event since we lost our friend Don West. 10 riders left the start line together, rode the 10 mile course silently and returned as a group in rememberance of Don. He is the reason every Wednesday during the summer riders would arrive at Point Au Roche and race the course he created. We will carry on the tradition he started and cared so much for.

Bollt Breaks Piller's Streak

A beautiful, cool summer day attracted Erik Bollt all the way from Potsdam, and Bollt managed to break Jack Piller's perfect streak, shading Jack's time by just 14 seconds. Bollt's 16 year old son Scott posted a personal best time, as did Heather Jabaut, who did so well in the Lake Placid Ironman just 10 days earlier.

The dying north wind didn't seem to keep the riders from posting some good times.

Jack and Lynne extend their perfect records

Jack Piller extended his perfect season streak to eight for eight and Lynne Murray pushed her streak to a perfect six for six. Neither rider has been topped during the season.

The gentle south wind at the start/finish area the wind didn't seem like much but the riders complained of the headwind on the return leg of the course.

The 14 participants tied the longest finish list of the season.

Congratulations to Mary!

We haven't seen much of Mary Duprey at this year's time trials. The reason -- she's been preparing for Ironman Triathlons. In mid-June she placed second in her age group in the Mont-Tremblant 70.3 (Half Ironman) and qualified for the World Championships to be contested on the same course on Aug. 17. In between those two events she won her age group in the Lake Placid Ironman on July 27. See results. Her time of 11:26:02 placed her 633rd overall and twelve minutes ahead of the second place finisher in her age group. We suspect that we won't see her at the TT until after the Aug. 17 event. Good luck, Mary, at the championship race.

Piller and Piller post top times

Jack Piller Extended his perfect streak to seven for seven, while Susanna Piller made it a family affair, posting the top women's time.

Eric Kreckel posted another personal best time of 26:01.

Thunderstorms during the day didn't intimidate the riders who found partly cloudy and a strong north wind which died as the event went on.
